A Hard Week

This has been a very hard week for me. We have been keeping a secret from most of you but now it's time to share. I was pregnant but we lost the pregnancy last Friday. It's been very difficult for me since we lost another pregnancy about 11 months ago. Things were moving along smoothly this time and we were able to see the heart beat at 6 weeks but we went in for another sonogram on Friday and it was clear that the heart beat had disappeared. I have taken this miscarriage much harder than the last one. With the first one, I was able to believe that this was a fluke and we will bounce right back. This second miscarriage makes me wonder what is wrong with me. I went in for another D & C on Tuesday and the doctors and nurses at Reston Hospital are amazing. I really think they are the silver lining in all of this. We are getting some genetic testing done and will hopefully find some much needed answers. I know that I will find the courage to try again because we want another child.

It's in the hard times that I am reminded how lucky I am to be married to Chris. He's so supportive and loving. He is my rock!

Thank you to all our friends and family for their support.

Grandma Pat

As many of you know, Grandma Pat, Chris's mom passed away in September of 2006 and we miss her everyday. I have been thinking about her a lot over the last several weeks and have been trying to remind Ellie about her. We have pictures throughout the house of Pat and Ellie knows who she is but it makes me sad that she will never know how truly amazing she was.

I was fortunate to meet Pat before she start steadily losing her battle with MS . She was this sweet lady that loved to tell stories about her children and their famous dog Luke. She spent a good part of her life writing stories about her adventures and my sister in law Mary put them into a book to share with the family. The book highlights what an amazing and patient mother Pat was. Of course, she had to be with raising those Mallonee boys! I want to thank my husband for sitting with me for hours and sharing all his memories of his mom, which only makes me feel closer to her.

Ellie tells us all the time that Grandma Pat loves her and she played with her all the time when she was a baby. Ellie even makes up some little stories of her adventures with Grandma Pat that make me giggle.

I know Grandma Pat is up in heaven watching Ellie grow up and is thrilled to see what a remarkable father her son has become.

But Why?

Ellie is constantly asking why? Why are we doing this, why can't I do that? I love that she has lots of questions but it would be great if she was satisfied with any of the answers that I give her. I love when I give her an answer to something and she will correct me if I am wrong. I can only imagine how that will play out during her high school years.

More Snow Time Fun

Yes, I am finally back blogging. Our household has been infected with cold germs and that has taken priority. I have been working like crazy as well so I am a little burned out. I think this weekend has helped me rest and be ready to jump back into the swing of things.
We had some snow a week or so ago and Ellie and her Daddy enjoyed some fun. Ellie loved the snow and couldn't wait to get out her sled. Daddy and Ellie both took the sled out for some downhill adventures.
